  • Mood: Questionable
  • Listening to: Miyavi - coo quack cluck
edit:

i forgot to mention, that sketches/lesser art will be placed at my sheezyart gallery [link]
.......

lately, i've been noticing that some artists whom i admire have been leaving dA, (or even the whole internet scene for that matter)... i idolize some of them and saddend that i won't ever seem to see their art as much. :/

-----
soo errr yeah, i haven't been doing much lately due to college and apathy etc... i finished a Death Note manga coloring (i did not draw the lineart):

i've been currently obsessed with random things lately.. Death Note/L is one of them.. (hence the posting of disturbing photos of myself i decided to torture people with...sorry -_-.)

here's a list of my obessions right now (no particular order):
1) Death Note manga [link] and anime.
2) Nightmare - jrock band...(damn death note anime)
3) Miyavi/Miyabi/MYV - this jrock singer... somehow he has this appeal to me -_-. damn pvs. [link]
4) Shiki no Uta (Song of Four Seasons) [link] by MINMI - Samurai Champloo ending song is -pretty-
5) Karabiner - awesome anthro artist. i love his digimon fanart. [link]
6) browsing and looking at various fan art of things

random art thoughts:
i've been thinking about how...i really am not satisfied with my current art status. i just think things are mediocre. for once, i would like to produce a flawless artistic piece. so far, i always see mistakes. i am aware of the mistakes...it's just that i don't have sufficient knowledge as to how to correct them. i suppose i need my main focus right now is to improve my anatomy and from there work on a style -_-.

and recently, i've been trying to make more comments on artists' work around here. i am hoping i can get more feedback on my stuff - like critiques. that would definately help.

Hi, thanks for the comment in my gallery. I thought I would return the sentiment. :)

I can relate to your dissatisfaction with your art. I think its something every artist faces somewhere along the way, while discovering style and prefered medium.

I can give you some advice. Dont stop! Keep creating. Do it every day, because the only way to improove is to just do it. Its simple statistics, that if you create a work of art every day eventually you will make something great. 1 out of ten pieces will be good, and the rest will be unsatisfactory. Over time that fraction will increase to 2/10, 5/10, 8/10 ... you get the idea? Like any other skill, its practice.

I can also say that at the stage your in experimentation is really important. Dont limit yourself to one medium or style or subject. Try many things, because you might discover an affinity and a talent with something unexpected. Think of it as process of elimination.

Ok, last piece. Like your Lion drawing, use real stuff as references. I cant tell you how crucial this is to a steady curve of improovement. The more you use reality as a base for your work, the better you get at "seeing". You begin to notice all the little things that go in to making art great. Composition, perspective, depth, shading, and detail. You have to train your eye to "see" like an artist. I can tell that your already on your way, because that lion shows it.

Well, I hope you didnt mind all my advice. Getting critiques from others is great, but if you can learn to critique yourself (and not just saying something sucks, but why you think it sucks), your way ahead of the game.

yeah, i will have to start to use more references for my work. sometimes i feel that my skills are even perhaps waning..., i have't been using my time for devotion of art as frequent or been practicing much. i'm so lazy to go look at tutorials and sift through finding a decent reference picture etc. i do believe that of course i will improve over time - that is i just have to start applying myself more.

anyways, thank you for taking the time to read and respond to my entry. i highly appreciate it.

Your very welcome :)

Good luck.
